AN DA SHEALLADH
centre devoted to CULTURE, NATURE AND SPIRIT
An Da Shealladh ('Two Views') is a unique centre dedicated to helping all humans realise their fullest potential.
The phrase an da shealladh is Gaelic, which historically was the language spoken in the area. It refers to the strong local tradition that some people have the 'second sight' - ie are able to see the future.
At An Da Shealladh we believe that realising our full potential involves:
Attending to both our inner and outer experience,
Having awareness of what Buddhists call 'relative' and 'ultimate' reality - that which appears and that which is beyond appearance,
A dual commitment to uncovering the vastness of what we are in essence, and the rooted, grounded practical realities and consequences of our lives as humans on earth, surrounded by other species and part of an ecosystem that responds to our actions.
The phrase also aligns with contemporary indigenous North American concept of 'two-eyed seeing': marrying the best wisdoms from indigenous and western scientific worldviews.
The activities of centre are based on these understandings and also on the three strands of:
Recognising that all spiritual paths offer profound paths to truth,
That humans are part of nature and need to restore our relationship with it
And that the arts have a profound role to play in our spiritual and ecological restoration.
Historically these strands were woven together in an ecological and spiritual understanding of what it means to be human. An Da Shealladh exists to help us return to that understanding, offering courses which reconnect us to any and all of these facets of being human.
Together may we reach enlightenment and create a world of wholeness and peace for all beings to flourish in.
